This is to encourage that the city approves some of the bedtax funds for the Hill Country Film Festival of Fredericksburg. Able to view a good number of the films, I was impressed with the number of out of town visitors who came to view the films and stay in Fredericksburg all the days of the film fest. Those in charge were very wholesome and well kempt, which was surprising for a Hollywood type event and compared to the film festivals I attened ealier in my younger years. The Stagecoach Theatre Complex was the perfect place for it, as was the special viewing at the Nimitz Ballroom. We can encourage these film professionals and aspiring ones in at least a generous grant of the bed tax refund we received…and which we received by state law to be reinvested in just such venues and helping make the annual film festival here even more successful.
In my adult education class this fall I am including screen writing as part of my History of the Texas Hill Country class…and lettting the class choose a story they feel merits telling by screen.
