The first week of October each year has been the traditional time to celebrate German Heritage Week in Texas. It is also celebrated that week at the State Fair of Texas; and is usually officially proclaimed by the governor of Texas. We thank the Oktoberfest for its fine sponsorship of Oktoberfest in Frederiksburg. It is said that TXDOT took down the "Haupstrasse" signs along Main Street. Photographing the signs were popular by the tourists, especially visitors from Germany. Hopefully they will be restored.
