  1. Larry Nevels says:

What the two entities seem to forget is that whatever is decided it is we the tax payers who get the bill. Every person who lives in the city also lives in the county. Whether it’s city or county money WE have to pay for it. We have paid for the golf course AND the airport for many decades. In all the peacock posturing by politicians that has gone on the past many weeks the big loser has been the citizens. Some seem to think that If there is litigation, arbitration and/or condemnation that THEY will get the better deal. BS! We the citizens of the city/county (there is no distinction for us) have to pay for it plus all the legal costs whatever the decision.

  2. Hunter Scott says:

    Tom,

I think the City has made a more than fair offer to resolve this issue and have worked in good faith to resolve the issues surrounding the golf course contriversy. The way things are going, my feeling is confirmed that the County Cmmissioners are just a group of crotchity old men who don’t really want to serve this community, but are more interested in controlling and posturing. They only want to “win” at all costs.

BTW, With Hoover stepping aside, are you going to run for Mayor? You’d be good at it.

  3. Bo Padgett says:

There is no reasonable explanation for the city and county to fail to work this out; the issue is obviously not this simple; this is an extension of bad blood between the county and the city from “way back”. Get Boot Ranch to kick in some money for the airport fiasco; they are the ones with the “big dog” clients who want to land jets at the airport.

  4. James Fox says:

As noted my many, regardless which governmental entity pays for the airport golf course improvements, we the citizens will, in the final analysis, pay for he entire project. I’m wondering if persons living outside the city limits are required to pay city taxes as we who live in the city pay county taxes. Perhaps some equalization of tax can be arranged where bout county and city residences pay a fair share. That said I do expect the council and county to reach an agreement before additional money is paid toward arbitration or ligation – another bill put on the tax payers. The situation, if it were not so serious, would seem to be a plot for a TV sitcom, a comedy if it were not such a fiasco.
