Hi Tom,
I’m very much in favor of the AACOG transit request.
I’d also like to see sidewalks included as part of the SPCA project, primarily to encourage pedestrian and bicycling access and safety. I understand from atteding the Transportation Committee meetings that the Fredericksburg Comp plan approved in 2006 has mobility- sidewalks, trails, bike lanes-as a key component. For example, I’m pleased to see the sidewalks on Friendship Lane (and also encouraged to see the wide road lanes being used by bicyclists). Since the hospital is going to be building the community/ health center near the SPCA, it might be important that all new buildings in the immediate area be required to build sidewalks, so as to encourage continuity and a safe walking and bicycling corridor (perhaps younger kids could be encouraged to bicycle on those future sidewalks).
Thanks for your consideration.
Blessings,
John
Please pass on other other council members and the mayor that everyone I have talked to that has taken a good look at the Weihnachten Pryamide on the Marktplatz, is amazed at the carvings and workmanship, the colorfulness..and can’t wait to it it all lit up and working. I enjoyed have the two workers from Thueringen for breakfast. They wanted me to be sure to thank the city and the committee for the fantastic hospitality they experienced. In answer to everyone’s question, yes, they can make miniature replicas. I have talked to Shiela at the Handcarved Candle store and she will be glad to accept orders and will carry them.
Again, thanks for a wonderful project and achievement for the community.

Tom, I agree that seeing the big picture ( Fredericksburg Comp Plan 2006) changes to whole picture. Maybe something could be worked out with SPCA (discount rate) This is a prime reason why sidewalks are needed throughout our city. With our hospital building the community/ Health center it is a must for future sidewalk needs.
Thanks for your service
Rob
