  1. Larry Nevels says:

While it may need some refinement, The Open Meetings Act was designed to prevent elected officials from making decisions in secret without public accountability. Texas History and our own town’s history is rife with examples where “deals were made” in smoke filled rooms or in private meetings without the public having knowledge or input. While no one wants to infringe on one’s First Amendment rights, that amendment is not designed to exclude the public’s right to have a full accounting and reasoning behind decisions as well as the ability for them to give input and suggestions about deals or decisions their elected officials make that affect us all. I hope the City Council exercises extreme caution on how they address this issue.

  2. Robbi says:

    Well said Larry!

  3. Barry Wagner says:

Tom, as the City and County try to resolve the issue over the expanded aviation easement I hope everyone will consider the most economical solution. It doesn’t matter to me if it is City or County tax dollars. It is still my tax dollars being spent. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
