EXECUTIVE SESSION

Though not an item on this week’s agenda, as a service to our community, I would like to pass on some information the City and County received concerning the CREZ lines slated to pass through Gillespie County. At our July 19th meeting, the City Council voted to participate in Gillespie County’s intervention in the LCRA CREZ transmission line process before the Public Utilities Commission (PUC).

This past Wednesday, July 28, 2010, the LCRA Transmission Services Corporation filed a Certificate of Convenience and Necessity (CCN) with the PUC for a Preferred Route for a new 345 Kilo-volt electric transmission line through the Hill Country. The portion of this line that affects citizens of Gillespie County is known as McCamey D to Kendall to Gillespie.

  • Clicking on this link will take you to the LCRA and CREZ page.
  • Clicking on the Location of Directly Affected Properties link will show a map of Gillespie County divided into segment maps.
  • You can find affected properties by clicking on a segment map. (example: MAP 27 includes the Settler’s Ridge Subdivision)

While the CREZ lines do not pass through the city limits of Fredericksburg, I feel they do affect our community, as we are all residents of Gillespie County. For more information, contact Commissioner Donnie Schuch at dschuch@gillespiecounty.org or phone 997-7503.
